MINISTERIAL BIOGRAPHY

Roxanne Glynis Parson initially responded to the call in ministry in June 1988, under the tutelage of Reverend Dr. Douglass B. Sands, Pastor, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial United Methodist Church, Baltimore, Maryland.


During her tenure in the United Methodist denomination, Minister Parson served in urban and rural ministries. As God provided spiritual growth, Minister Parson became associated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1995.


While maturing on her spiritual journey, the State Director of Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority, Inc. Cheryl Raigns (now) Brown appointed Minister Parson to serve as the State Chaplain for Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority, Inc. Soror/Minister Parson functioned in this capacity from 1996 – 2002.


Roxanne G. Parson preached her initial sermon in the AME Denomination at the Oak Street African Methodist Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland on April 30, 1997. She was ordained an Itinerant Deacon on August 1, 2001 and on April 17, 2004 Reverend Parson was ordained an Itinerant Elder.


Reverend Parson is the daughter of late Ruth H. and Richard Johnson. She is married to Reverend Andre’ M. Parson and is the mother of Aaron R. and Rebekkah G. Parson and grandmother of Lailah Mackenzie Smalls.


She is retired from the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, where she last served as the Director of Talent Management and Organizational Development. Reverend Parson holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from the College of Notre Dame in Maryland and a Master of Arts in Theology degree from St. Mary’s Seminary and University’s Ecumenical Institute.


Reverend Parson has served at the Oak Street A.M.E. Church where she functioned as the Director of Christian Education, the Coordinator for the Friday Night Intergenerational Bible Study and as Church School Teacher.


Reverend Parson conducted New Members’ Class and coordinated baptism preparation and services. She has directed the “S.P.I.C.E. Girls” teen group for young ladies between the ages of 13 – 17. SPICE is an acronym for Spiritual Promises Incorporating Christian Experiences. The focus of SPICE was to help young women to covenant with God as they grow into Christian womanhood.


Reverend Roxanne G. Parson served as the Assistant to the Pastor at the Star of Bethlehem African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of the Reverend Marlene R. Jefferson. As Assistant to the Pastor, Reverend Parson provided leadership in Couples’ Ministries, served as the lead Bible Studies Instructor, Director of Christian Education, Advisor to Children, Youth and Young Adults Ministries, and general oversight of all church ministries.


On Friday, April 24, 2015, Bishop William P. DeVeaux assigned Reverend Parson as Pastor of Davis Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church. She currently is delighted to serve the great people who worship a Great God because Davis Memorial is the place for the Divine Manifestation of God!


She has facilitated Leadership, Couples and Women’s Ministries retreats throughout the state and northeast region of the United States. Reverend Parson has also served as,

 

  • A member of the One Church, One Child Advisory Council, of which Rev. Dr. Joan L. Wharton is the Executive Director

  • A co-editor for the Sister Talk Newsletter of the Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Rev. Andre’ M. Parson Ministerial Biography Reverend Andre’ M. Parson obtained a bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland Easter Shore, and a Master’s of Education from Coppin State University.

 

He received his license to preach on October 22, 2006 at the Star of Bethlehem AME Church and was ordained as a local deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Upon receiving his ordination, Rev. Parson served as Director of the Men’s Ministry, Director of Evangelism, and Prison ministry.

 

Currently, Reverend Parson serves as the Associate Pastor of Davis Memorial A.M.E with his wife and partner in ministry the Reverend Roxanne G. Parson, Pastor where he continues to serve in leadership capacity of Church School, Evangelism, and Prison Ministry.

 

Reverend Parson has four children, Desmond, Courtney, Aaron and Rebekkah, and five grandchildren. His favorite scripture is: The 23rd Psalm. ‘The Lord is my Shepard”.
